Recently I had an epiphany. There is just not enough technology blogs in the world. I feel it is my duty to rectify this situation so I’ve started my own blog. Welcome to TheRuddyDuck!
I work at the world’s greatest IT company EMC! My job is Principal architect in the Open Innovations lab (OIL) in the office of the CTO. I have what I believe is the coolest job in the world. At OIL, we work with partners and customers to look at emerging technologies, how they fit into business, and pilot first of kind solutions. So what does that really mean? In a nut shell I get to work in a lab with new technology, figure out how it all works together, and then pilot the results with customers to make sure that it has practical business value. The cherry on top is that they pay me to do this!!!
With my work in OIL I started finding that I had a lot of good thoughts for blogs, and began talking to some of my cohorts about seeding them with what I was working on. It then dawned on me that I might as well just blog myself. So I spent some time thinking about the blogs that I find most useful. While I read many industry blogs about the state of IT, how we are in the midst of an IT revolution, and the theory of clouds, I have found that I’m often drawn more to the how it works blogs. That’s what I’m going to try and do here.
I will be blogging on a range of subjects. VMware, BIG data, Openstack, automation tools, and my love hate relationship with the NY football Jets. Whatever I’m currently working on, you will see the results here. It will be “this is how it works” practicality, as opposed to theory.
At this point I should mention that all my blogs are mine, and mine alone. While I work for EMC, and I expect that most of blogs will have an EMC slant to them, in no way does it express the opinion or views of EMC. These blogs represent the thoughts in my head.
I hope you find the content useful, and helpful!
Cheers
Jim Ruddy!
