EMC ViPR is a product that allows the creation of software defined storage with in your data center using existing storage resources. It is deployed as a vAPP in your VMware virtual enviornment and provides a simple, extensible, open platform for both your physical, and virtual enviornmets.
My next series of blogs will focus on deploying EMC ViPR for use by Openstack Havana Cinder. Ill show deployment, setup, Openstack integration, and configuring it with EMC VNX for block storage, and EMC Isilon for File. Ill focus on creating Virtual arrays and pools, integration with Active directory for security, creating a storage service catalog, and ultimately using it to provide cinder block services for Openstack. AS with all good things we will start with deployment.
